FOX’s “FEDEX BCS National Championship Special” claimed the top slot in Nielsen’s ranking of the top primetime telecasts on broadcast TV for January 8, 2009. The show drew just over 26.8 million average viewers Thursday night.
ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” was the second-ranked program with almost 13.9 million average viewers, and CBS’s “CSI” rounded out the top three with just over 11 million average viewers.

Overall, FOX won the night with an average audience of almost 26.8 million viewers, while ABC took second place with almost 10.2 million average viewers. CBS and NBC claimed third and fourth places with roughly 9.1 and 5.7 million average viewers. Univision and the CW followed in fifth and sixth places with average audiences of roughly 4.4 million and 2.1 million average viewers, respectively.
