Primetime Broadcast Ratings, January 27, 2009

FOX’s “American Idol-Tuesday” claimed the top slot in Nielsen’s ranking of the top primetime telecasts on broadcast TV for January 27, 2009. The show drew just over 25.5 million average viewers Tuesday evening.

CBS’s “NCIS” and “The Mentalist” rounded out the top three with 19.2 and 15.2 million average viewers respectively.

Overall, FOX won the night with an average audience of almost 18.7 million viewers,
while CBS took second place with almost 15.8 million average viewers. NBC and ABC
claimed third and fourth places with roughly 9.8 and 5.7 million average viewers,
respectively. UNI and the TEL followed in fifth and sixth place with average
audiences of roughly 4.5 million and 1.5 million average viewers, respectively.
