In today's economy does the standard purchase consideration funnel work? Car companies can still grow the top of the funnel (awareness and consideration) but from somewhere in the middle through the bottom everything's evaporating. My guess is that there's little chance for purchase intent to decrease. Those who lost their jobs intend to get new jobs, and buy cars. Pent-up demand will lead toward "intent" growth in the short term. When unemployment abates that demand will spill out of the funnel quickly taking many "intenders" out of the system.
