Very interesting and I absolutely agree. I'd like to add to this analysis that the Droid is not a competition killer by breaking down the segment in which has most likely become the early adopters of the Droid. Most likely they never had an iPhone, but maybe have admired their friends iPhone. They may have had another type of smart-ish phone like the Windows Mobile 6, a Blackberry or even a simple phone. So these people are excited to have all the apps/great web access/etc and the newest/coolest phone in the palm of their hands. Of course they are going to use the crap out of it. Anytime I get a new gadget, I use it and abuse it for a period after purchase and slowly my usage goes down over time- I stop going out of my way to use the new purchase. It's essentially the hot-buzz affect. The hot-buzz affect is the growth, hype, and the public buzz period when someone makes a purchase of the hottest new gadget. Also, since you can get almost the equivalent, (almost) of the iPhone on the Verizon network, people are jumping at the opportunity. Since the Droid just recently came out, the hot-buzz affect is in full force, and I propose this is the reason for the additional usage of Apps/Web/etc on the Driod comparatively.
