Things seem to be very much the same here in the UK. Coupled with the ban on smoking in public places, I think the recession has made people consider the value of communal drinking establishments. British individuals seem to be using their pound to buy higher quality and less quantity, re-discovering home dining and starting to take pride in their own ability to create fine food and compliment with fine wine ... to my mind probably one of the best bi-products of this recession.
