The 3-D experience at home is becoming a reality. Aspen Media Products (AMP) has partnered with Mitsubishi and NVIDIA to bring the 3-D experience to home theaters across the nation. All that is required is a 3-D ready TV, and AMP media server and NVIDIA glasses. With the nationwide launch expected to happen in early 2009, the 3-D setup will not only allow to play 3-D content, but it will also convert any standard DVDs into 3-D. There is also a gaming server that will convert over 350 existing PC games to 3-D. This is the future of home entertainment!

During downturns Hollywood has traditionally done as well or better than economic peaks. 3D is a needed boost to bring patrons back to the theaters where the visuals and sound are unmatched. Just look at all the 3D movies slated for the coming years - and with the theaters deploying their digital/3D setups the industry should be well positioned going forward. AVATAR will definitely be the turning point of stereoscopic 3D in cinema - watch out for it in one years time!

The 3D experience at movie theaters will not be something movie fans can enjoy at home, even with the most sophisticated home theaters. This fact alone should cause the attendance at theaters to surge. Even as the economy tanks, Americans are flocking to theaters as a cheap vacation and an escape from everyday life. Brands, ad agencies, and non-profits need to plan cinema media campaigns for 2009. On-screen advertising will be hot in 2009. No Tivo, DVR, or distractions.
