CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” and “CSI Miami” were the number one- and number two-ranked primetime telecasts on broadcast TV for Monday, July 14, 2008.
ABC’s back-to-back telecasts of “The Mole” claimed the 8th and 10th spots, while two Univision programs, “Fuego en la Sangre” (#7) and “Cristina” (#9), also made the top ten.

NBC’s back-to-back telecasts of “Most Outrageous Moments” claimed the 6th and 7th spots, respectively.  Two Univision programs, “Al Diablo Con Guapos” (#8) and “Fuego en la Sangre” (#10), also made the top ten.

Inflation has reached a 13-year high in India, but consumer spending has not declined, The Economic Times reported Thursday.
Instead, industry data show that sales of fast moving consumer goods and consumer durables are actually growing.
Amita Shetye, Director of Client Service, Nielsen, told the Times that Indian consumers have remained cautiously optimistic, despite the flagging economy.
“Indians are positive that the hard times will pass and hence they have not started cutting down on these purchases,” Shetye said, but added: “If this scenario continues for long, we may see consumers revising their household consumption rate.”

With Apple’s new iPhone 3G scheduled to go on sale worldwide this Friday, Nielsen Mobile released penetration, demographics, and usage data for the current iPhone:
How many iPhones are already out there?
-Nielsen Mobile estimates that there are 2.3 million U.S. mobile subscribers using an iPhone
-The iPhone accounts for 1% of all embedded mobile phone users in the U.S.

In 2007, U.S. advertisers placed $5.78 billion of advertising in Spanish-language media, according to a report issued Thursday by Nielsen’s Monitor-Plus advertising service.
That’s a 3% increase over the $5.63 billion spent on Spanish-language media in 2006.  Overall in 2007, U.S. advertising spending rose 0.6% over 2006.
Broadcast Media Partners Inc. (Univision’s parent company), which spent $205.9 million on advertising in 2007, was the largest advertiser across all Spanish-language media.  Lexicon marketing, which increased its ad spending by 38% from 2006 to 2007, showed the largest percentage increase.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that mobile Web surfing is a big hit with U.S. wireless subscribers, according to a new report by Nielsen Mobile.
The report found that mobile Internet penetration is highest in the U.S., where 15.6% of wireless subscribers use the Internet on their mobile devices. The U.K. followed, with a 12.9% mobile Internet penetration rate, while Italy took the third spot with an 11.9% penetration rate.

Digital Response Media reported last week that British Internet users favor MSN Messenger, eBay, and Facebook, according to a recent study conducted by Nielsen Online. The three ranked as the most used websites and applications among Brits in the 12 months ended in May.
The research shows Brits spent an average of more than one billion minutes per month using MSN Messenger, eBay, and Facebook during the last year, while Facebook, YouTube, and Second Life saw the most growth in user minutes.
