In a poll that surveyed more than 25,000 people worldwide, Nielsen found that New Zealanders were among those getting most bored of media coverage regarding the global recession, with more than a quarter of Kiwis polled saying that there was too much coverage.

FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance-Wednesday” claimed the top slot in Nielsen’s ranking of the top primetime telecasts broadcast TV for June 17, 2009. The show drew just over 8.5 million average viewers Wednesday evening.
CBS’s “Criminal Minds” and ABC’s “Wipeout rounded out the top three with with approximately 8.0 million average viewers.
Image-based online ad spending by consumer goods companies increased 57 percent over the last two years, growing from $99.8 million in the first quarter of 2007 to $156.2 million in the same quarter in 2009, according to new Nielsen research.

Over the latest six (4-week) periods ending 5/16/2009, store brand unit sales averaged a 5.7% increase in consumer-packaged-goods departments tracked by Nielsen in food, drug and mass-merchandisers (including Walmart). Most of this growth is from edible departments (i.e., fresh meat, fresh produce, packaged meat, dairy, dry grocery, frozen and deli). In Nielsen’s first update after the country’s June 12, 2009 conversion to digital television, 2.5 million American households, or 2.2 percent of the television market could not receive digital television signals through the week ending June 14. These numbers reflect an improvement of 300,000 homes since June 7, the most recent date for which Nielsen reported readiness numbers.

UK grocery sales grew 5.1 percent in the 12 week period ended May 16th, largely due to the record number of products on promotion according to new research from Nielsen.
